A day with Pandoras

Pandoras met Monday for our monthly meeting. This month we were at Michele’s house and she chose a project that I loved. Michele went to a retreat where she met Jane Bradley who designed this project. Thank you, Jane!

I believe this was originally designed to be a recipe card holder and that’s the theme we all tried to follow. The longer I worked on mine, though, the more I thought this is a great project for other applications.

I did not take my camera with me on Monday so I don’t have pictures to walk you through what we did, but I can tell you:  We started with a paper grocery bag, opening it up so it was one large sheet. We misted the paper bag with Tsukineko Walnut Ink Antiquing Solution and with Tattered Angels’ Glimmer Mist.  We cut the paper to the length and width we wanted, folded up the bottom and then accordion folded the paper to create pocket areas. Once we were satisfied, we stitched the pockets on the sewing machine. That done, we got to play. We used stamps, papers, chip board, scrapbook paper, etc to decorate our booklet.

I still want to decorate all the outside pages and then I’ll fill it with favorite recipes on cards. I’m thinking it would be really cool to put the recipes on pretty decorated tags…..  More pictures to follow???

This was a lot of fun to make and I really liked the idea of upcycling paper grocery bags.  I have reusable bags in my car and more times than I like, I completely forget to grab them on my way in to stores.  Now I can choose “paper, please” knowing I can do something really cool with them.
